Merry and Bright: 2018 Holiday Guide from Columbus Mom Bloggers
Merry and Bright
When I started Radiance Reflected, I wanted to showcase the amazing women in my life. I believe “when you shine, I shine” which is “shine theory.” It was created by Ann Friedman and Aminatou Sow and it is wonderful. One of the best things about blogging has been meeting other supportive and creative women. I love people who look at the world in a new beautiful light and accomplish their goals. We decided to put together a holiday guide and I hope you take the time to check out their blogs. So here we go! Let’s get our holiday on!
Eryn is a friend of mine who helped me create this blog and is a wonderful person. She really is “Shine Theory” in action and is supportive. Her blog 614 Mom is fabulous and she always has great ideas for exploring the city. Her events are really fun too! She wrote a great blog about giving experiences instead of gifts. If you live in Columbus, you’ve most likely experienced CoSI. They have a little kid space that is just amazing that has a water table. It also is right downtown so you can experience the city as a family. I’ve lived a lot of places and Columbus has one of the nicest downtowns to explore. My family enjoys it and we’ve had a lot of fun there with out-of-town guests.
My friend Julie has a great blog called What Should We Do Today Columbus?, which if you have kids or kids visiting, is amazing! My family has done so many fun things because of this blog. She’s a maven for things to do in central Ohio. She’s created this wonderful gift guide for young boys. I especially loved her book ideas since that is my son’s favorite thing to do is read stories together.
Malini keeps it real! Her voice is engaging and funny. Like Malini, I overextend myself all the time and the holidays are no exception. She’s a master travel hacker and her blog is so helpful. Anyway her suggestions are on point, especially if you are fortunate enough to go to several holiday parties. I’m a big fan of Trader Joe’s wines and eco-friendly gifts!
Lindsay has this great blog called Find Where You Fit which helps people in the Columbus area find great places to workout. Fitness is her passion and she writes about it in a way that motivates you to be more active. She’s absolutely lovely. She wrote this great guide for active kids. As the mother of a “Toddler Tornado”, these are great gifts to help kiddos burn off some energy and entertain themselves. I really want to check out the Magic Mover!
Katie writes about travel in her unique voice at Zen and Life Travel. My Dad used to go on business trips all the time and she is what he would call a “savvy traveler!” She has a gift guide for travel lovers. My favorites are the Audible subscriptions to listen to books since I am an avid reader and the eye mask because I’m fancy! I also loved the yoga subscription as someone who has a mat and having classes available at home on my schedule is great.
Kim is a lovely person who writes about her family so lovingly at Wear Love Wanders. You feel like you know them and you want to hang out with them. She wrote this blog about great holiday shirts for the family. I know so many people who love to take holiday photos as a family. My favorite for the kids was “Ewoking in a Winter Wonderland.” I love a good pun! These are really cute and I think a lot of people could use these gifts.
Kathleen is a person with a passion for fitness and healthy living. She blogs about it at Just Keep It Simple Fitness and you can tell she wants to help people live better. Her holiday guide for the fitness fanatic is great. Yoga equipment at home is really fun to have and surprisingly affordable. I also really love her snack box subscription idea! As someone who has struggles eating healthy I often sabotage myself eating unhealthy snacks, these would be gifts I truly appreciate! Check it out!
Ashley blogs about exploring Columbus with kids at her blog Columbus for Kids! As someone who is experiencing Columbus as a momma, it’s so cool to see what is out there and it’s a great city to live in with children. She wrote this great blog with gifts for adventure kids. My family used to go camping all the time when we lived in Colorado. I have so many great memories of those times with my mom, dad, and sister. She suggests eco friendly sunscreen which is awesome because some chemicals are not great for the environment you are visiting. My family love the resealable pouches that you can reuse. Pouches are great for traveling because they aren’t as heavy as snack carriers but they aren’t the greatest for the environment. I love these gifts.
I hope these guides help you during this hectic time and introduce you to some amazing women in this community. I’m glad to call them my friends and I had a ball reading their articles. I hope this helps you get a head start on your shopping and helps with gift ideas! I hope your holiday prep isn’t too stressful and you get to create amazing memories with your favorite people.
